Having been raised and educated in Slovakia, my initial introduction to the Scandinavian landscape came as I was studying Metal smithing in Norway, and glass and ceramic design in Finland. It was at this time that I fell in love with the Norwegian landscape of contrasts, craggy shores, pooling water, and undulating and jutting mountains. I employ these forms, colors, and textures in my work to evoke both the inviting and stark landscapes of Norway as well as the moving, and intricately beautiful forms of water. I depict movement using color that runs through the permeable glass canvases I create, allowing the color to pool and soak into the form.
